Yay for visitors!

So, this spring has been pretty busy with visits from near and far, and last one up was Cecilie, my good friend from Oslo! She was in town to do research for her thesis, which is about Paul Auster, who used to live right around here, so that worked out very well! We did all kinds of stuff, went to an improv show, a shortfilm festival (wow, that Polish movie was so fucking creepy..) had the best steak in the world, and it was generally a good time!

So tomorrow, the next visitor is a-coming: My good friend and ex-roommate Andreas from Denmark is coming to town, and it should be fun!

In other news, there is, as you know, a lot of pretty disturbing stuff going on here right now, both in Virginia, but also even closer to here - my next door grocery store was closed off the other day, because the rapist / torturer / arsonist had been there to get money from the poor Columbia girl's bank account.. Both of these events just have this element of hatred that is really kind of scary, so yeah, I really hope the guy gets caught sooner rather than later, so people can walk around this neighborhood without constantly looking over our shoulders.
