Hurra Torpedo: Best band ever!
OK, so that was only a half truth: Hurra Torpedo may not be the best band in the world, but in terms of photos, they totally rock: Here are some of my favorite photos from the band's website, the Crushing Blow, taken on their American tour earlier this year.
This is Kristopher Schau: Seven feet of grace.
This is the rest of the band, Aslak and Egil. The subtle beauty of a pine cone is not lost on our two heroes.
While buying new instruments (!) in Memphis, Tenn., Kristopher finds a stove called "Norway".
They may be about to lose the war on kitchen appliances, but they do so in style.
Hurra Torpedo played a once-in-a-lifetime concert at a Texas Steakhouse. Here's a video (Seriously, it is freakin' hilarious) of their concert.. The crowd's reaction is just priceless!
Hurra Torpedo's American tour is so much more than just a tour, though. It is also the search for Bonnie Tyler, the 80s pop icon behind - among other memorable hits - the songs "Turn Around" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Since the music they play is predominantly Bonnie Tyler covers (skillfully and beautifully played on kitchen appliances) they come to seek her and by finding her, finding their own roots. Hence, whenever they come to a new town, Kristopher calls up every person called Bonnie Tyler to see if they found their princess.
So beautiful.. So very, very beautiful.
The worst thing about this is that they are sponsored by Ford Vehicles, who's using the Hurra Torpedo car as the grand prize in a Hurra Torpedo competition. Did anyone tell Ford that Hurra Torpedo really is just a for-fun-and-games band, and that they're not really the greatest band in Europe?
