OK, so I thought it would be cool to put up some images from the view on the top of the Rockefeller Center, in Midtown Manhattan. The top one is looking straight south from Midtown, with the Empire State Building in the middle. To the left is the Hudson River and New Jersey, and then Downtown and Lower Manhattan is behind the Empire State Building.

The World Trade Centers used to be on the very south tip. Staten Island (that's where the NY Marathon starts..) is out in the distance, and if you look real closely you might be able to see the Statue of Liberty out there too.

Yeah, wouldn't mind having this view from my apartment.. Currently I look at a dorm :-(

Either way, this is looking north from Midtown, at a somewhat wintery Central Park, with the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in the middle (it's that big lake.) On each side of the park is the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side respectively, with Harlem starting in the distance, before the island ends, and the Bronx begins.

I live in the top left-hand corner of the park, approximately.

This is looking south-west. Deep down there is the Times Square (you can barely make out some lights and stuff,) named, of course, after the New York Times. That arera also has all the Broadway theater/musical stages, in which I'll probably see Spamalot next weekend, when a certain Georgian is in town. Jersey City is on the other side of the river.

This is a (slight) detail shot of some of the funky apartments that are down in Midtown.

This is West Midtown, looking west to Newark, New Jersey.

This is, again, the neighborhood where I work. The tallest black skyscraper in the middle of the picture is the Trump Tower, looking out east to Brooklyn and Queens. Just behind that is the U.N. buildings.

Again, same view. But it's nice, dammit, we have that view into Brooklyn and Queens from the kitchen at work!

Yeah, it's a pretty big city. That's Brooklyn, with the Roosevelt Island in the middle of the East River. (If you've seen Dark Water - a stupid horror movie - that's where it takes place.)
